Family planning really does save money
The Texas Tribune did a very good report showing the cost to the tax payer when cuts are made to family planning services and contraception, and the schools have really bad sex education (i.e. abstinence only). The fiscal arguments for the cuts just don't add up.
I did read a nice article today saying that some schools in Texas are realizing that Abstinence-Only Sex Ed doesn't work and they are also starting to teach safe sex. I will have to do some research later to see if the program still exists and how successful it is being as the article is from last September. But it was good to see some folks were willing to look at the actual evidence and realize what what was there wasn't working and needed to be changed.
