Philatory Of Galileo
Cindy and I are in Florence, just ending our honeymoon spent in Italy. She is doing a workshop while I have been visiting various museums. It was very cool to walk through the Uffizi, wonder about a large group of people in a room, only to discover that The Birth Of Venus is in front of them.

One thing I found strange. I was in the Museo Galileo, an awesome museum of the history of science.

It included amazing things like two of Galileo's actual telescopes. What I found disturbing was a display cabinet containing two of Galileo's fingers. Yes, that is right... two fingers! And a tooth! I think there might have been another body part, but I forget.
Now, I have been in Italy for two weeks. I have visited the Vatican and many museums full of religious art. I have seen too many versions of the Annuciation (my favorite was one where the angel was shaking Mary's hand while bumping heads with her, looking like a drug deal going down or something, my least favorite was one where the angel looks quite evil and Mary looks scared). But I must admit, I didn't expect a reliquary in a museum of science. I suppose we need our own saints, but still.
